Credit crunch: marlies|dekkers commitment to creativity

The marlies|dekkers company has decided to embark on a new strategic course. At the end of 2008, Marlies realized that the world was heading for a financial storm that was not going to lie down quickly and decided to take a hard look at her own business. "During times like these it is very important to stay focused on what makes my company tick and what it is renowned for: creativity, quality and innovation.", Marlies explains. She decided to re-organise, which meant amongst other things the relocation of the marlies|dekkers stores in both New York and Berlin. "Things had become way too corporate for me, I decided to go back to basics with the company and make creativity, quality and innovation our priority and not expansion at all costs. R&D (research and development) was once the motor of our company and will be again. It means that some necessary changes had to be made in our workforce."
